REVIEW OF THE AMBERIAN DAWN ALBUM “MAGICAL FOREST”

Amberian Dawn is:
Capri – Vocals
Tuomas Seppälä – Guitar & Keyboards
Emil Pohjalainen – Guitar
Kimmo Korhonen – Guitar
Joonas Pykälä-aho – Drums
1. Cherish My Memory:
The open track  of the album , is a rock song, that is very melodic and  Capri’s vocals keep the sound high. The guitar and keyboard play into the song  well blended together, somehow the sound  is for me near to pop music.
RUNNING TIME: (4:19)
RATING: 4.
2. Dance Of Life:
In this song the female voice  throws out another vocal style, that differed from what you heard in the first song. It is a mixture of Folk and Power Metal.Capri has emotional tone between the solos of heavy guitars and powerful keyboard.
RUNNING TIME: (3:12)
RATING: 6.
3. Magic Forest
The best song of the album.   I like how Capri’s vocals at points harmonize with are the  arrangements.Maybe is the only song of the disc with symphonic influences!
RUNNING TIME: (4:39)
RATING: 9.

4. Agonizing Night (3:51)

Another song with melodic and much epic sound…Nothing new in my ears.

RUNNING TIME: (3:51)
RATING: 4.

5. Warning:

One  a little faster song ,  melodic rock/metal song. Nonetheless.
RUNNING TIME: (3:21)
RATING: 2.

6. Son Of Rainbow (3:29)

Here we have some better guitar work on the entire disc and  the voice tastes good before and after the solo.
RUNNING TIME: (3:29)
RATING: 6.
The track opens with a keyboard melody before the band joins in. Power guitar with good solo near the end of the song.

I’m Still Here:

The track opens with a keyboard melody before the band joins in. Power guitar with good solo near the end of the song.

RUNNING TIME: (3:52)
RATING: 4.

8. Memorial:

A song I really wanted to like, but honestly would have been better with the ex- singer Heidi Parviainen. With a male operatic vocalist joining in the track  at least its not the usual beauty and beast, singing versus growling vocals this genre has been accustomed too.
RUNNING TIME: (3:48)
RATING: 5.

9. Endless Silence:

Same and here, fast tempo  and female vocal torture your ears with this sound.Mainstream music with heavy riffs.
RUNNING TIME: (3:42)
RATING: 4.

10. Green-Eyed (4:28)

So this the last song of the album ,we listen  an absolutely beautiful symphonic/orchestral song, which features Capri showing that is has talent to sing in better songs than the previous .

RUNNING TIME: (4:28)
RATING: 10.

11. Dance Of Life (Bonus Track):

Instrumental version of the second track of the album

RUNNING TIME: (3:13)
RATING: 6.

12. Warning (Bonus Track): (3:41)

Instrumental version of the fifth  track of the album
RUNNING TIME: (3:41)
RATING: 2.
Symphonic power metal with female vocals, without any gothic element, as  in similar releases .The album has all the elements that can be tempting to those who like a symphonic power metal, but in my opinion there is a  problem to like other in people . Recommended only to collectors of this genre.
RATING:5.25/10
